Webster Towers is an eight-story, senior apartment complex located at 500 North Webster Avenue in the historical and beautiful Hill Section neighborhood of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Originally sponsored by the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania, it opened its doors in 1976 and is a nonsectarian, nonprofit organization providing housing for seniors and persons with mobility disabilities who need the assessible features of the building.
In addition to providing apartments, Webster Towers also offers an opportunity for socialization through various activities. Holiday parties, gatherings for Bingo and games of all types, topical speakers, entertainers, and bi-weekly prepared midday meals are only a few of the opportunities for seniors to interact.
Webster Towers consists of 85 apartments on seven floors with a laundry room and trash nook on each floor. The first floor is comprised of staff offices and a large, multi-use community room.

Webster Towers Inc. is a nonprofit corporation formed in 1972 with a board of directors, some of whom have been active members for many years. They are all volunteers and receive no compensation for their services.

Individual applicants must be age 62 or older. If two persons apply for an apartment, the head of the household must be 62 or older. For persons with a mobility disability, Webster Towers can admit 10% of the community, as long as the applicant is 18 years and older and needs the accessible features of Webster Towers as verified independely by a health provider.
Webster Towers offers apartments to persons of all financial circumstances. For those needing financial assistance, subsidies are available for eligible persons through the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). For those whose income is over the current income limit set by HUD, apartments are available at the current market rent regardless of income.
There are 85 apartments: 72 one bedroom, 7 standard two bedroom and 6 deluxe two bedroom. All apartments are on floors 2 – 8 with the first floor reserved for offices and community room for programs and social gatherings of all kinds.
Yes, a one year lease is required which will automatically renew itself every 30 days after the first year, unless a written notice of intent to move is received 30 days in advance of your move from Webster Towers.
The Standard two bedroom apartment was a conversion of an efficiency and a one bedroom apartment. The Deluxe two bedroom apartment is a conversion of two – one bedroom apartments.
